Current makeup holy grails, drugstore and luxy ✨

Coffee, contour and confidence

If you're just tuning in, welcome! First let me say that I am not a professional makeup artist by any means, that being said I do have SOME experience with makeup. I previously freelanced for Benefit Cosmetics and I currently freelance for BareMinerals.

I have a vanity filled with makeup, more than I can use at any one given time. My current coveted obsession is skincare. Here are a few products I have tried recently, both drugstore and luxy that are my current favorites.

  • Tatcha water cream - completely amazing. I'm a sucker for pretty packaging, it even comes with a little spatula to scoop out product. Upside: Lightweight water based cream. No surprise here since this is a product from Japan. Gives my skin a nice dewy glow without being thick. A little bit really does go a long way. Nice odor. Downside: It's $68! With that price tag, it better do wonders for me! I first got the deluxe sample at Sephora with my insider points... that lasted me a whole 2 weeks!! After that I was hooked and decided to make the investment.

  • Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara- This mascara is hands down of the best I have tried in a while!! I can't take credit for this awesome find as my girlfriend, Lissette actually put me onto it. Upside: only $6.99 at Target. Has a dual sided comb that really does give you that "full fan effect". The brush is everything. Easy to replace when the time comes. Downside: It isn't as easy as other mascaras to wash off. My eyes are very sensitive so I always take note of this.

  • Maybelline Master Contour V-shape Duo stick - come thru Maybelline! I picked this one up at Target as well while I was searching for an affordable contour stick. Upside: $7.99. Formula was very blendable for me. I chose the color medium and surprise, surprise it worked well for me. Downside: You have to be careful not to apply to much pressure to one side or you may blend the sides (highlight & contour) together.

  • Benefit The Porefessional gel matte rescue - Loveddd this. I have oily skin and after trying several products, not much seems to help. This gel actually mattifies my complexion. Upside: I bought the mini for $12 at Ulta and it has lasted me a while. Portable for us babes who are always on the go. A little bit goes a long way. Nice pleasant odor (I am weird about smells). Downside: I don't really see any downsides. I love it that much.

  • Tarte Shape Tape Concealer - Best.concealer.everrrr. Concealer is my life, after all how else do us moms conceal those bags under our eyes??? Upside: $24 (I have purchased more expensive concealers that haven't worked this well) and a little bit goes a long way. Ulta exclusive so you won't find this baby at Sephora. Thicker consistency and so for me it stays put. Doesn't crease easy. Downside: Thicker consistency means you have to put less and blend really well.

Another tip: I have learned to always ask for samples, 1. because it gets annoying having to return product (at some point there is also a limit to what you can return), 2. it makes it easier to try out something new without the price tag attached. In my experience both Sephora and Ulta will gladly make you a sample when asked. You'll thank me later. 😉
